A WAKE UP CALL TO ALL NIGERIANS

This message may hurt you if you do not like the TRUTH.  I have come to realize that most Nigerian churches hold services on working days, and during working hours. And surprisingly these churches are filled with people who should be at their work places. The questions that came to my mind this morning when I saw some of these churches online were,
1.     Are these people not supposed to be at their work places?
2.    Could this be one of the reasons for our economic recession/failure?
3.    How can we grow into a 1st world country, when all we do is to assembly ourselves in our different religious places and spend hours praying, dancing and catching emotions?
4.    Nigeria is in its poorest state, is this what we should be doing in order to boost our economy?
5.     Do these pastors really know that they are contributing to the poverty in the land?
6.     Are they acting out of ignorance or out of a dead conscience?
7.     Are morning services like this really necessary on working days, knowing that people are supposed to be at their various place of work?
8.     Do they know that they are only increasing the dependency ratio and not independence ratio of the people?
9.    Does the scriptures really support abandoning ones work or vocation for the sake of religious gatherings?

Let’s consider a few verses of scriptures

Proverbs 12:11

11 Hard work means prosperity;[b] only a fool idles away his time.

Proverbs 12:24, 27  (TLB)

24 Work hard and become a leader; be lazy and never succeed.

27 A lazy man won’t even dress the game he gets while hunting, but the diligent man makes good use of everything he finds.

And in another version, it says,

Proverbs 12:24 (Kjv)

24 The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.

Reasons why most people go to church (Building)
1: The genuine ones go seeking for God, thinking that he is only found there.
2: The genuine ones truly want to know God more and to seek his fellowship and friendship.
3: Genuine ones want to really serve God; they want all of him and nothing more. And that’s why when they newly repented; they went ahead tirelessly spreading the gospel by sharing tracts and preaching to others on the streets, inside buses and everywhere.
4: some other people go to church to catch feelings, get emotional and wet the floor with tears asking God to remember them and send them destiny helpers, while they refused to work on themselves to become destiny helpers to others.
5: others go to seek healing, deliverance, and breakthrough from all sorts of yokes and limitations
6: many others go to pray for rain and showers of blessings, miracle money, husbands, kids, spouses, jobs and the list continues…..
And the problem is that, most of these pastors are not telling the people the TRUTH that it is only through hard work that one can become rich. They are rather telling them that one day of favor is better than a thousand years of labor. What is the end result of such kind of gospel? The pastors only get richer, while the masses get poorer.
Secondly, such kind of gospel, leads to a low GDP and economic recession. As I begin to conclude this article, I would like to quickly mention something that I think is needful. If all the numerous religious meetings are not for the purpose of preaching Christ and him crucified, then, we may just be another set of Pharisees and proponent of Judaism.
Frankly speaking, anyone who truly understands the gospel of Jesus Christ would agree with me, that the majority of our churches are not preaching Christ. They are preaching another gospel, and according to Paul the Apostle:
But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.”
Galatians 1:8-9 (KJV).
From the foregoing, I would like you to ask yourself “what kind of messages has my pastor been preaching?”.
If you are truthful to yourself, you would know that he perhaps has been preaching messages like, every enemy, every demon/Satan, every evil, must die by fire.  And miracle job, miracle money, miracle husband, miracle wives, and miracle children etc. And because people are ignorantly seeking after these things that Jesus said don’t seek after, “Matthew 16:4 a, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; “the pastors are just using the peoples ignorance to manipulate them.
Only pagans seek after miracles. And it is obvious that majority of people who go to church are pagans and do not know God.
Now, the question is, what is the message of Christ? Apostle paul puts it this way:
Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.
1 Cor 15:1-4
Dear believers, you do not need your middle men (pastors) before you can get to God. Seek to know God; he is Omnipresence meaning he is everywhere. He lives in you and dwells in you and can hear you.
Jesus Christ chose you before the foundations of the earth according to (Ephesians 1:4). He loves you and would be happy if you are fulfilling your divine purpose here on earth.  And your divine purpose could be any area of life you have passion to change or make better for the glory of God. It could be in researching and finding solutions to the problems that has plagued humanity. It could be in science, technology, teaching, treating sick people (doctors, midwives, nurses, etc.) engineering, astronauts, pilots, media, music, politics, farming, designing, and many more. All of these areas of passion could make any nation great, bring joy to humanity also bring glory to God.
When we all are busy working hard to fulfill our different callings, we will together make the world a better place. And it would be easier to preach Christ since we are the best in our different areas of calling. Everyone would want to know your God because you have results, and because of your true compassion to changing the world.
Let’s all wake up and “Build a Great NIGERIA". Until all hands are on deck doing this, we are only moving to a deeper poverty state.
Blessings!
